The DoSo Band™

David Mills conceived of The DoSo Band as a way to introduce young children to all the different types of instruments. The music is scored for simple-to-play inexpensive instruments so students can try out a string, a wind or a percussion instrument. The instruments include:

• 2-string fretted violin
• soprano recorder
• harmonica
• 3-string rhythm guitar
• keyboard
• shakers and drums

The music is taught by using “solfege” – a method of singing the notes ( do-re-mi ), and many of the songs are choreographed for added fun. All songs have sections for improvisation, and the students improvise from day one.

Besides the songs he has written, David has arranged energetic, rhythmic songs from all over the world. Vande Mataram is a song familiar to hundreds of millions of people in India, and you can read how David discovered this song if you click here.
