Within any community there is a band waiting to be born.
In the 1980’s David Mills decided to come off the road as a musician so he could raise a family. He chose to settle in his wife’s hometown, New Haven, CT. His first job was for the Arts Council of Greater New Haven working on a project known as Arts in the Workplace. His assignment was to run a song-writing workshop at the Winchester Arms factory.
After a year of performing just for company events, the band, known as “The Winchester Special,” went on to become one of the most popular dance bands in Connecticut. They were even chosen to be the opening act in concert with grand celebrities such as Ray Charles and Cab Calloway.
